Cool list, must have taken some time to write all of them up. I think the main things is just to write, write often and get other people to read it.

101: make simple, but useful program and submit to plenty of freeware sites
102: make plugin for popular blog-engine

What would be really really neat, is a digg like “vote this up or down” on the entire 100 entry list!

Then we’d see some fun, vote up or down on each entry to get the true representation of what readers see as being “important to them” en mas!

    Cheers

But what’s with the “don’t swear” then “swear intensively” thing?

    Hey to your question >>

Basically that’s just pointing out contradiction in variation. There is no set way.

I also did that to point out two extremes, it’s not like there is a black and white. But those extremes of not swearing at all and swearing lots are like two magnets, they repel each other, they are each others extremes.

They can both help build a rep for your blog just depending on how you want your blog to be received. It’s just all about how you want to be perceived.

    Hi,

The list is great but I have to disagree with 44. The best way to get traffic trough your site would be in English, not in Swedish. Since I’m from Sweden you would think I would have a blog in Swedish, but I don’t, because I wouldn’t get as much traffic if it were in Swedish, since only 9 million people would understand what I was saying and not even that many would even consider opening internet.

If you know English well – of course you can write in English. But if you don’t? I’ve learnt English for 2 years but I’m still not sure that I can write in English whatever I want :(

  23. November 27th, 2007 at 19:39 | #23

Simon, I know English is to the masses and the majority but that doesn’t mean you should compromise just to reach it. The biggest spoken language world wide is mandarin but I don’t try and write in that…

Write what your natural at. If it’s good then people of your nationality or anyone who can understand your language who’s interested will read it.

Because think about it. Unless your content is so amazing people can’t bare not to read it, which little content is then why would people choose to read a sloppily written English blog with mistakes all the time as apposed to a naturally written English blog in the same niche.

This is a nice list for a newbie to follow. I hate seeing all those posts in forums on ways to get more traffic when there are lists like this all over the place!

  25. January 25th, 2008 at 18:56 | #25

Nice list. Number 1 gave me a good laugh. :D

    2 more:

    * Sign your mails with your blog’s URL.
    * Use a plugin to put the name of the blog after the title of the post in the title tag
