The Mindset to Make Money Online

September 30th, 2007 IBabel 4 comments

Here are some general psychological principles to take into consideration when thinking about becoming a successful Internet entrepreneur. Just my opinion, hope you enjoy the read.

Money on Your Mind

Know that it will not be easy – Making a lot of money takes a lot of effort. If for you want to start making money online, be prepared to put in a considerable amount of effort. Do not be fooled by the finished product of a successful entrepreneur, they worked hard to get there and you will also need to. Obviously on the net you get the one hit wonders who get lucky with a novelty idea, but… it doesn’t happen very often so don’t put your hopes into being the next ‘Million Dollar Homepage’.

Don’t be afraid of failure – It’s rare that an entrepreneur will become successful without ever failing first. Failing helps you understand what not to do. You can read from books all you like but people are different, business changes and you need to learn for yourself. Which is why I don’t like University and all those fucking courses, if the business teachers there are so up on business… why are they teachers? why don’t they have their own businesses. I would much prefer to do it all by myself and learn from my own mistakes, taking on board inspiration and being prepared to learn from your superiors obviously but ultimately, taking failure on board and using it to move forward.

Push yourself mentally – These days, especially online, it’s getting harder and harder. Mainly because so much more is being exploited and a lot of logical ideas have been thought of and what not. So it’s hard to start a trend or make a big site. Your best bet is to just work hard. Make the best content you can make and push yourself mentally to think of new ways to promote yourself and your content. New ways to do things, new ways, remarkable things that will make you stand out. But ultimately the undertone is good content and hard work.

Give and you will get – If you give people a lot of quality information or quality products you are likely to succeed. Word of mouth is a powerful thing and on the Internet it’s invaluable, forget trying to manipulate search engines and blogging about how annoyed with Google you are because of this whole payed link debate and blah blah. Just focus on making excellent content, products, services and what not and you will be successful. The basic principles are work, quality and consistence of quality, you can try buy links here and there and manipulate all you want and whatever. But at the end of the day, unless whatever you are trying to get to the top is good, it will never get to the top anyway. Get working.

The End!

The Power of Google

September 26th, 2007 IBabel 3 comments

Google

It’s quite unbelievable the power of Google pretty much anywhere on the net. You write anything formidably relative to them on any social networking site or forum and it usually gets way more attention than most things you put hard effort into writing.

I say unbelievable but that’s not true, it’s very believable obviously because they have built the status they have from back in the 90’s. But it can be quite annoying, given that you can spend a lot of time writing a valuable article and it doesn’t get much attention on social networking sites simply because a lot of people glance the title and if it doesn’t have a recognizable brand, name, site or whatever in it they ignore it.

This obviously isn’t a rule of thumb it’s not like ALL good content gets overlooked unless it’s about something popular but it does happen a lot. Just like this little post will probably get more attention than some of my articles that have real advice which I’ve put real effort into compiling to help unsure or very inexperienced webmasters.

So my advice is, write about Google. Not all the time, but at least now and then to get attention. It’s unfair your great content can be overlooked but that’s the reality.

Google PR Update Coming

September 26th, 2007 IBabel 4 comments

I know a lot of webmasters have been getting anxious lately about the next Google PR update. Well supposedly the delay has been due to Google finishing up on their Universal Search and Webmaster Tools. But it should be coming very soon.

To be honest I couldn’t care much about PageRank at all. I mean… I stay aware of what my PR’s are but I don’t really care or focus on it. As long as you continue to add great targeted content to your site then PR will take care of itself. Forget about it.

It’s not really important either, it’s just become a fixation in people’s minds as if it’s a competition. I’ve seen high traffic sites with low PR, who cares. It’s a very small determination of a sites individual worth in my opinion. I mean, it gives you an idea on how much traffic a site gets and what the search engine results are like for it and all that, but it’s not really important.

Focus on making your site a quality place to visit. A quality resource for everyone in your niche. A targeted goldmine. Do not fixate on PageRank and do not fixate on improving it. Just fixate on quality content and it will happen.

Inspiration for Blog Posts

September 25th, 2007 IBabel 7 comments

Muhammad Ali vs Floyd Patterson

Anyone who owns a niche blog and attempts to post prolifically knows how hard it can be to keep up regular quality of content. You may find yourself running out of post ideas now and then.

Here’s some ways to find inspiration…

Social networking sites – Sites such as Digg and StumbleUpon with constant interesting content can be great sites to visit to help aid fresh post ideas. There is constantly fresh new articles and stories posted so not saying you should copy those but just use them to inspire new ideas. Such as if you see a post on something you feel passionate about and strongly disagree with, if it’s related to your blog… post your opinion on it. And if you don’t have a blog on something you feel passionate about… make one!

Other blogs – Again, a great way to inspire thought. Go take a gander at some popular blogs and see what they’re talking about and post your opinion on it. Maybe you see an inexperienced blogger post on something and they get something wrong or give spurious advice and it’s mass read, bring this to attention.

Forums – Another social retreat to help inspire ideas. Take a look at what topics are popular and which you have an input on. This is also nice strategic posting as if you do this a lot you will always be talking about popular things in your niche at that time. But I’d recommend only doing this when you’re stuck, try and come up with truly unique things whenever possible.

TV – Watching TV can help. If you put the news on and see some interesting stories… I mean, you never know what topics will be covered so always check out the latest news. Sometimes you can get lucky and a big story can break about what you blog about, which doesn’t sound like a big thing but if you blog about something to an obsessed few, it can be.

Audiobooks and books – Probably one of the easiest and biggest ways to provoke immediate thought in my opinion. Listen to and read things from people you admire. If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur you’d be surprised what passionate thought listening to some classic motivational books can inflame. I don’t mean sit down like an obsessive freak, just shove one on the background as your working on something else until you hear something that inspires you. I recommend Think and Grow Rich. And the same with regular books, just have a quick read to get some inspiration, it can go a long way.

So if you’re ever stuck for posting again, just try any of the above methods. I’m sure you’ll have a ton of ideas soon enough.

Oh, and the picture incase your wondering. I know it’s a bit irrelevant given it’s boxing, but it’s just a classic picture of someone at the height of their inspirational power and Ali was and still is an inspiration to a lot of people so I thought it was the perfect picture.

Making Your Blog Unique

September 23rd, 2007 IBabel 8 comments

Making your blog unique is a crucial step in gaining more exposure. Getting more traffic, more readers and ultimately making more money with it.

Here are some things to consider when making a fresh blog…

Domain name – Is your domain name really unique? If not then consider going with a new one. Ultimately you want a domain that will instantly let anybody know what your site is about to an EXTENT or give some motivation into making them click it if glanced in a search listing or if seen anywhere. If you see YouTube.com the main thing that entices you immediately is YOU. It’s instant flattery and involvement of in reality nobody the ‘you’ ironically means anybody who sees it, but that subconscious flattery of ‘you’ thinking it’s referring to ‘you’ is enticing. Then you have to think about the ‘tube’ why tube, what’s that, how do they mean it… it’s quick, catchy marketing. It makes the domain easy to remember and gives it a unique quality.

Obviously this isn’t a rule of thumb, it’s not like you follow that structure and your site will go boom, it’s all about the whole package. But a good domain is part of it at least. If you own a blog and it’s like ”blogspot.kevin. bla bla blah” consider buying a real domain. A freely hosted sub domain only lets people know you weren’t committed enough to buy a real domain therefore can’t put much value on your work. All a sub domain / freely hosted site does it lump you in with a whole bunch of other blogs that couldn’t be bothered to go the whole way. Which only says to your readers (if you have any) that all you’re interested in is exploiting profit from the blog for yourself and are not willing to put any of your own money in, even though you expect people to listen to you.

A few things to remember when considering a domain name…

  • Make it sensibly short
  • Make it catchy
  • Make it clear to read, avoid words that are typically tricky to spell
  • Make it relevant but different

Now obviously if it’s your personal blog you can just go with your name. But… unless you’re already known on the net for something, like achieving something, I think this just seems a bit self-indulgent. Like Shoemoney for example… that’s his nickname sort of but it’s the name of his company ‘ShoeMoney Media’ so that’s good, plus it’s catchy and viral and he has a class logo. But if your name is just something common at least try and think of an alias for yourself that could make your blog viral.

Personally I prefer to go with an actual name not relevant to me as an individual for this blog because this blog isn’t really about me, it’s about making money online. My thoughts and stuff are here but mostly a compilation of ideas and tips and what not. But if it is a truly PERSONAL blog I think it’s fine to go with your own name (just make sure your content is great!).

Design and structure – There’s obviously no given design that is guaranteed to look good to everyone because that’s what taste and opinion is. But just make sure your blog has a design that YOU like and a structure that is solid, code wise, and a navigation that is easy to see and use.

Try to avoid using a common design though. If you use Wordpress for your blog for example and you’re a good designer, try designing your own theme. That way your blog will be exactly the way you want to see it and it will be absolutely unique. If you’re not a good designer but have some money, try paying a good designer to do that for you. If you’re not a good designer and don’t have a lot of money, just pick a free one, there are tons around. But try and pick one that you haven’t seen a lot, that looks fresh and has a good layout.

Even if you pick a theme that doesn’t have the perfect layout you’re looking for but does have great graphics and colors that would suit you and your blog. Pick that and you can always edit the code and mess around with things to perfect it for yourself.

Posts – Obviously the posts on a blog are the most crucial thing in making it successful. If you just post what other people post by re-wording everything you hear other people say… I mean… you might have some success but it’ll be quick and patchy up and down scales of success based on other people’s thoughts.

Make your blog posts unique by writing everything yourself. Expressing your own views on things, being as opinionated as you want without pandering to anyone or compromising your writing style for search engines.

A good topic for opinion is politics. So if you’re political and know a lot about politics… go start a blog and write your mouth off. Political blogs famously get a lot of attention and comments just due to the whole atmospheric tension around the topic of politics. Almost everyone has entirely different views in some areas of politics, hardly anyone agrees with each other on everything, which is why it’s such a great blog topic. But, if you don’t know about politics, don’t go and do that now for the sake of it. Make sure you blog on something you enjoy and are passionate about.

A few things to remember when making good posts…

  • Use relevant images to catch the attention of the reader and entice them to read on
  • Use paragraphs to break the post up into easily scalable reading pallets as apposed to one huge lump of text
  • Finish the post on a good note. Or a note to provoke or encourage comments
  • Include your opinion on topics you discuss in the post

So how do you set your opinion apart from the thousands of other bloggers with the same opinion as you so that you can get more attention / readers?

Well… there isn’t a simple answer to that, the only one… two answers really being

  1. Try your hardest
  2. Be yourself

That’s it!

Here are 50 5 ways you can help break free into the small handful of unique blogs…

  1. Be honest – Nobody likes a bullshitter or somebody who lies to try and boost their profile. If you’re not a millionaire, don’t pretend to be one. Just write what you think and what you know.
  2. Don’t get egotistical – No matter how much people start liking you. It’s when you convince yourself that you are something special that they stop liking you, the reason a lot of celebrities start getting hated also. Because they start to believe the hype surrounding them and being what people imagine them as and then ultimately looking like narcissistic cunts.
  3. Don’t be intentionally controversial – If, really, you’re not a hateful person. Don’t become one to get more attention. Because soon enough it will feel unnatural to you and your readers and it will be obvious you are trying to be someone you’re not. Always be yourself.
  4. Always write from scratch – Never borrow from people, like borrow chunks of text to re-word or whatever. Write from YOUR brain, it’s your best resource. Why cheat your readers into copycat posts and re-worded knowledge when you could give them your actual views. No matter how inferior you think your thoughts are, there will be people that will agree with you, so never sell yourself short or underestimate your own thought.
  5. Be over ambitious – Be over ambitious. Make your blog as best as you can possibly make it. Write as best as you can because I think ultimately, that is the only way to get noticed. It’s very hard to get noticed if you’re writing like everyone else, writing what everyone else is writing about… doing what everyone else is doing. Be unique in every sense of the word and think super big with everything that you do. Revenue wise, exposure wise, everything. Never let anybody tell you ‘it can’t be done’ and try. Because if you don’t try, you can’t succeed.

Changes - Whenever you do something on your blog. Make a change to the design, the logo, whatever, it will have a knock-on effect.

If you have had a blog for a while now and have gained some readers and they love your blog. Say you make a change to the design. Completely re-vamp it. And you ask their opinions and they don’t like it. Should you change it back?

In the short-hand I think most would think yes, because it’s what your readers want.

But to be honest, I don’t think you should.

Think about it. If you’ve had that design for a long time now, the readers have gotten used to it. They’ve grown comfortable with it. Obviously because they have gotten used to it, a change in it is like a change in a pattern, they go and expect to see what they remember. So their first reaction will be unfamiliarity, which will sometimes lead to them not liking it. So you will probably find that there will be people who will hate it straight away. But the design shouldn’t be why they stay anyway, if they like your content, surely they wont go just because of a design change.

So, stick with it. If it’s what you like, keep it. Don’t be too influenced by other people’s opinion. Your opinion after-all should be what makes your blog yours. So make sure your design reflects your opinion, don’t compromise for the sake of pleasing everyone.

Think viral – This is going to be the last point. As I think it’s the most powerful one.

Viral marketing is by far, the fastest way to gain exposure to a site / blog and gain stability. By viral I don’t mean setting your hair on fire or tattooing a site on your face for the sake of getting instant link-bait. It’ll work… by why sacrifice so much just for a bit of quick viewing, not worth it.

I mean… think long-term viral. Make everything as good as you can. Viral doesn’t have to be wacky to be viral. It can just be brilliant. If you write brilliant content, absolutely brilliant content with relevant points and you make constant observations that connect. That’s viral. Because it will get you link-bait and people will talk about you, to an extent.

But make everything about your blog viral, not just your content…

  • Get or make a unique logo
  • Make your subscribe buttons unusually large or visible. Do something different.
  • Think up a completely unique name
  • Make new pages with rare tools other bloggers don’t showcase
  • Give good resources
  • Implement new things that you don’t often see on most other blogs

By doing things like this. You will stand out! by being remarkable, unique and different. You have to out-think the things other people think of these days.

Which brings this to a close because my brain is nearly empty. Thanks for reading and make sure you post your comments or thoughts on this article and other ways you can think of making a blog unique.

StumbleUpon Video

September 23rd, 2007 IBabel 1 comment

Despite it being launched back in 2006. Today was the first day I actually found out about StumbleUpon Video… don’t know why I hadn’t heard of it before but anyway I think it’s a brilliant piece of marketing. What a great extension to their already smart social networking site. I wont be using it much as I only watch videos I’m interested in and like to pick em’ lol so I wont be randomly stumbling videos much, but great service.

It could also be used I guess to manipulate video success somewhat with your own videos. If you could get a video popular enough and enough friends and so on. Great marketing.

So if you haven’t seen it yet either, go check out StumbleUpon Video

John Reese and Shoemoney

September 22nd, 2007 IBabel No comments

This is not new. But it’s a great interview between John Reese and Jeremy Shoemaker aka Shoemoney.

I’ve actually uploaded it, in parts, on my Internet Babel YouTube channel. All the parts are in the player below, just click through each one when your done. Enjoy.

BlogRush Flavors

September 21st, 2007 IBabel 3 comments

John Reese has announced that ‘BlogRush Flavors’ will be available in a few days. Looks like some nice color schemes for the widget

BlogRush Flavors

Pretty nice. I think color schemes will help improve the current low CTR and I think there should be plenty of great advancements to come. The next step I think should be to allow customization of the blog title colors and fonts maybe. That would be a really significant step forward given that anything similar to this never allows title customization, neither do ad networks, Google does I think to an extent but only when you’re a premium publisher. Anyway, this is a nice addition.

StumbleUpon Traffic and Quality Case Study

September 21st, 2007 IBabel 6 comments

StumbleUpon

I’ve literally only been using StumbleUpon for about… a month at most. I’ve always been aware of it just never really aware of how much traffic potential it has and I never used it basically because I was just too lazy to go install the toolbar and get going.

But, over the past few weeks I’ve realised how lucrative and advantageous it is traffic-wise. In the past few days alone, I have had over 1 thousand hits from StumbleUpon to this blog and I have done hardly anything.

There is always debate about the quality of the traffic of StumbleUpon users given that they flick through sites like crazy so are most likely going to leave within a few seconds. Well, this is true of most Internet users anyway. I don’t believe it’s only apparent with StumbleUpon users, the comparison I have seen is basically that people who use it are like people who flick through channels on TV. Well, doesn’t everyone watch TV? it’s not just a select few and when you watch TV and you do find a good channel do you still flick past? no, if you find something you like you stop and watch it. The same is true with the net and the StumbleUpon tool. Yes people do flick through but what’s the solution to get them to not flick past your site? make quality content. That’s it.

If you make quality, captivating content that will capture the majority of people’s attention within that niche then you will get not only targeted traffic but you will get traffic which browses for longer. Traffic that links back to you. Traffic that shares what they’ve found with friends. Quality traffic. Now obviously there are dozens of other elements which will affect and determine how long somebody stays or the average time the average person stays on your site. Those mainly being:

Web design – This for me is probably the main one other than content. The design is the absolute primary core of any given human impression of your site. They SEE it before they read or click anything, it’s impossible for them not to. If they look they will make judgement, consciously or subconsciously that will instantly convince them of hundreds of things at once. And help them decide within a matter of seconds:

  • What quality your site is to them
  • How professional your site is
  • How unique your site is
  • How old your site is

Amongst other thought. So absolutely make sure that your design is pure quality. And pure quality doesn’t just mean you payed some guy a grand to do it. I’m talking about thoughtful quality, the type of design that you have thought about and themed, made or had made to fit your site’s message, style, whatever.

Let your personality come through in your design, if it’s a personal project of course. If you are loud and outgoing then let that show in your design, don’t just copy other people’s designs, be unique, be wacky, be anything but ‘just another site’. If you’re reserved and professional, then let that show in your design because chances are if you have a bland design and people read and discover you’re a crazy, loud, fun person. Even on an unconscious level, they’ll notice the contrast and it wont seem right. Make designs that you like, make designs that are quality and well structured.

Usability – Another key point for any website. Go to all the biggest sites on the net, what’s the one thing they all have in common? they all have easy, clear usability.

YouTube – Big buttons, white background, big writing.

Bebo – Big buttons, clear writing, white background.

And so on. So make sure your usability is clear and noticeable. That’s not to say to make huge buttons for example for the sake of ease, of course set the level of notability according to your sites theme and aesthetic surrounding. But make sure it’s easy to use for the average person, don’t assume that just because you are a web pro that everyone visiting your site will be to. It’s easy to make that mistake and you would be surprised at how non-experienced some people or a lot of people still are with the web and sites in general, so they like simplicity. Make your site usability easy, clear and relevant.

Branding – Is your site name, logo, slogan or theme one that people will remember? if the answer is no, why haven’t you done something about it. Branding is the ultimate staying power, even on a small scale, forget monster sites and powerhouse sportswear, which is what you normally think of when the word branding is mentioned. Just think about branding your blog or site on a basic level. You don’t need millions of dollars and a team of pros to brand yourself well. If you’re smart enough and motivated enough to even make your own blog or website and build continuous content for that, then you’re surely smart enough to create a memorable staying power factor to it.

Now branding isn’t what keeps people coming back, people don’t go to YouTube because they like the logo, they go because of the content. But the logo and the name is partly what made them so huge, obviously the service itself was the absolute reason but the name in itself is so brilliant that it sticks in your mind avidly. It’s simple and catchy, that’s it. Forget SEO. Viral quality and human traffic multiplication is much stronger, it’s better quality traffic and it creates more traffic.

So how do you brand your site? just think of what your site is, what it aims to do. What you aim to do and what it’s all about. That’s basically it. The reason I called this site ‘Internet Babel’ is because it covers a fairly broad range of things on the Internet. This IS an Internet marketing blog at heart but I also occasionally discuss other things on the web not to do with making money. So for me… the name just sort of shot to mind. It’s talks about things on the Internet so the word ‘Internet’ was an automatic for me. Next, what does it talk about on the Internet? well I blog tutorials, case studies, examples, tips, discussion, news, personal views. So how could I sum all that up one word? …babel! it’s a huge list of things which could only really be summed up with a fuzzy sounding vague word like babel or blab or something. And babel sounded more viral to me, so that’s it.

Finally, back to the core factor people comeback.

Quality content – So how do you make it? well, if you’re a blogger there isn’t really one answer. All you can do is put stuff out there and see if people react and see if people like it. I’ve never agreed with paying people to blog for me, I would hate the thought of people thinking I was behind something I didn’t write. Because I’m extremely opinionated, so if that person wrote something I thought was ridiculous… I would be too annoyed to just let it be. I need to create my own content and make it good to be satisfied. And that’s what you should do to, forget shitty tools, autoposters, content creators, instant content and all that. If you buy them, if you invest money into them, you may as well be wiping your ass with that money. Because you are investing that money in shit. They don’t work, if they did do you really think the sellers would be practically begging you to go to their desperate 100 ft long landing page which follows 1990’s sales principles to mainupulate people into buying. Do you think they would be selling their precious secret. NO!

There isn’t any avoiding hard work. If you can’t be bothered to create quality content which you have put serious effort into, quit now.

If you own a blog, make sure it’s a blog on something you like and will never stop liking. Something you are passionate about and could write about until your fingers can’t move. If you aren’t a good writer, learn to be. The more you blog and force yourself to use correct grammar etc the more fluent you will become at writing. Even if you feel your writing is hopeless and you will never be good. Get a grip! how do you think good writers got good? they weren’t born with special bones to enable them to write a language that we don’t know instinctively. There isn’t an excuse if you are a capable human being.

But perfect writing isn’t the main factor anyway, it helps but look at Shoemoney he admittedly has bad grammar and uses slang. What makes his blog good is his thoughts and maybe something else (cough Adsense check).

So that’s writing. But media wise, if you can, make as much media, graphics and what not for your site. Logos, wallpapers, icons, videos… that would seem a bit weird with a blog but you could still do it. But away from blogs, other sites like fansites are particulary good at being able to use to multi-promote. If you own a fansite on a huge music artist and you create an original wallpaper on that artist, if you get traffic, think how many people will use that wallpaper if they find it. Because… they’re already a fan hence being on the site and it’s not like they’re being convinced into downloading a wallpaper based on your site. It’s a wallpaper based on something they already like, just add a link on it and you’ve got yourself another visual representation of your site. Do this avidly, as much as you can, in as many different ways you can. Versatile, quality content.

How to get traffic from StumbleUpon
Well, as I said I’ve been using it for a very short time so I’m not claiming to be an expert. I’m not just re-wording what other people have said either though, this is my own thought based on what I’ve experienced. Basically, just stumble good sites you find and also bad ones you find. Stumble like mad for a day and stumble fast but well based on your opinion and stumble your own pages to. Just the really ‘great’ ones, articles etc you think people will enjoy. It’s all about giving quality to the community and it’s easy, so do it. Just do this… not even excessively and you should soon see pretty amazing results for the absolute pathetic amount of effort needed. Great system.

So I’ll finish here as I must of written a novel by now. But if you’re new in Internet marketing remember these key things:

  • Making long-term money online in large volumes is hard
  • Quality content and services are what will make you rich
  • Treat people well, gain parternerships and you will get further
  • You can’t avoid hard work
  • Learn from your mistakes

So that’s it. Hope you enjoyed the read and got some genuine quality advice or tips from it.
Also, use StumbleUpon if you aren’t already. It’s a good source of quick traffic.

Thanks, also post your comments below and share your thoughts!

Oh and if you are already using StumbleUpon, Stumble this page by clicking the logo below! and why not Digg it to. Don’t be shy! Cheers :)

An Example of YouTube Marketing

September 21st, 2007 IBabel 2 comments

Previously I’ve made posts giving tips and telling people to market via video using YouTube. And of course other video sites if you want, but YouTube mainly. So I thought it would be good to actually give an example of a video I’ve made for one of my YouTube channels promoting one of my sites.

So first let me just explain the video. Apart from working on the net I’ve also been learning card magic for about… 5 years, well I say learning for 5 years. I mean I started about 5 years ago, did it avidly for about 2-4 and sort of have not bothered learning much over the past 1 or 2 years. But I’m pretty good and proud of my skills. So, this video is me performing one of my favorite routines called The Invisible Palm. Enjoy….

Hope you liked that :) So, as you can see I’ve placed a watermark link in that video to my site, which you can do easily in most video editing programs. I recommend Sony Vegas. Now that’s quite prominent promotion, it’s very visible and because the context of the video is actually a performance of an art. A form of visual and intellectual entertainment I think it works very well and much better than most video promotion. Also I place a clickable link in all video descriptions. In my opinion that is all you need. Well if you have lots and lots of money and can afford very professional video promotion then do that but for the average marketer I think a link is all you need. Let the quality of the video do the rest.

Now The channel in which I uploaded this to is my ‘magic channel’ promoting my unfinished magic site which is going to be a site made for magicians. Designed to teach some stuff for free and give quality performance for learning purposes as well as offer useful and affordable future products. I’ve got a healthy 395 subscribers to the channel so far, so… not bad for 18 videos.

The site is unfinished, drastically, so I have not been promoting it any other way apart from YouTube for now just to get it somewhat established amongst a group of magicians. I don’t get amazing traffic from the YouTube video promotion for that site, but it is consistent. I added that video like a day ago and it’s already had 180 views and hopefully when I get some more time I can improve the subscriber base with more videos. In total the videos in that channel have had combined views of 109,032 which is very nice.

Here are some main plus points about personal YouTube marketing:

Longevity – Because it’s not copyright content (referring to my magic videos) there is no risk of it getting removed because it’s MY content. Therefore they will be there for however long I want to leave them there. And as the site gains more momentum I can use the site to leverage the channel itself, it’s very prolific.

Originality – Make sure if you’re promoting a site long-term and you plan to create a lucrative long-term YouTube channel to promote that site that nothing you upload is copyright. If it’s like a fansite or something… sure risk it, but if it’s very popular music or video don’t be surprised if you get too big and end up banned. Which will destroy all your hard work for that channel.

So, anyone who has a personal site. A site which can be promoted someway productively via video, I urge you to start recording some great media, edit it well and start uploading!
