Half Price Reviews Until 31st of March

March 17th, 2008 IBabel 7 comments

Good news people looking for a cheap review!

I’ll be knocking 50% off my normal review price from now until the end of this month.

I normally charge $40 for a review through myself, so I’ll now be charging $20.

A few people have been asking about the traffic situation for this blog. They are as follows…

Uniques – 2,400 + a month.

Pageviews – 30,000 + a month.

Again, this is only until the 31st of March, so if you want this deal then click here to order your review. Simply select ‘Paid Review’ from the purchase type, then continue and fill out details etc.

March 14th, 2008 IBabel 9 comments

My Internetbabel gmail account has been hacked… what a pain in the ass. So anybody on here who has contacted me via that, don’t send anything to that mail for now, I’ll change the email in the contact form, use that to contact me.

New Header

March 11th, 2008 IBabel 30 comments

Just had my new header designed, I love it. Think it’s a big improvement and it’s just how I imagined it.

I’d give credit to the designers if I had a name… was just a recommendation from someone I know and an exchange of emails and payments :)

Tell me what you think of the new header! Navigation bar will be coming soon and I should be slowly revamping Internet Babel’s look over the next few weeks.

Internet Babel Round up Feb 2008

March 1st, 2008 IBabel 3 comments

I love these round up type posts. Especially when they contain useful info or interesting links. I will be doing one of these form now on at the end of every month. You can check out the January round up here. Basically, these will posts covering interesting things that have happened within said month, whether that be on my blog or elsewhere on the web.

Google Shares Drop

I don’t know anything about stock markets, so I won’t pretend to :) But Google shares did drop to an all time low recently so that’s surely something to babel about!

Google’s explination for the drop in Adsense clicks is the new alterations to Adsense ads to stop accidental clicks. Which is what I’d tend to go with also. Not the assumption that the econmoic slow down has created this.

Blog Competition – 5 Bloggers, 1 Winner

From Feb 5th I’ve been competing in a competition against 4 other bloggers to see who can gain the most subscribers in 1 month. The competition will run till the 5th of March.

So far it’s been pretty close between me and The University Kid but I think I’m just about winning with a 109 subscriber increase so far. My reviews for my hosting giveaway could of had a ‘little’ something to do with this (wink!).

Anyway, still time to go and I could still easily be beat. Please, if you haven’t done so already, SUBSCRIBE! Help me win this! I’m sure I’ll have another quick prize in store before the 5th of March.

Aaron Wall’s SEO Book Discontinued

Aaron Wall aka SEO God has stopped officially selling his infamous web book on the subject.

I own it and it’s a great read. It cost $79 and was a good purchase and is still a good purchase. Basically the only eBook I’ve ever payed for. The only other one I will buy is Shoemoney’s when it comes out.

Anyway, for now I think the SEO Book is still available to buy, so if you haven’t already… get it!

Internet Babel Breaks 200 Subscribers!

It’s been a long time getting there but this blog has finally broken not 100 but 200 subscribers :) can only look up and onwards from here. Hopefully I’ll be saying 400 in the next post!

88 Subscribers Gained so Far!

February 26th, 2008 IBabel 9 comments

This competition has just reinforced how effective competitions are in gaining subscribers.

I’ve gained 88 so far. Last I checked with The University Kid, he had gained 85… He could of gained more by now but I assume I could be winning :)

Looks like this will be a close one!

Internet Babel Round up Jan 2008

January 29th, 2008 IBabel 4 comments

Each month from now on I’ll be posting a round up post so to speak. I’m calling it the ‘Internet Babel Round Up’ not to conclude a round up of this blog but just a round up of interesting links or things that I think are… interesting! … interestingly enough!

These posts will basically just be random things I’ve found, heard or seen as well as anything interesting that may of happened on here recently.

So, welcome to the very first one! Here’s the round up…

Shoemoney vs Danny Sullivan – SEO Debate

This is nice. Shoemoney recently blasted so called SEO experts in a post for being similar to used car salesmen. I totally agree, I have never payed an SEO but based on seeing the services they offer for the prices they offer and knowing how fast and vaguely and randomly SEO, not only changes but does and does not work. I think it’s a very fickle industry and I would agree that they would tend to promise what they cannot deliver.

Anyway, Danny Sullivan stepped up to defend SEOs and had it out with Shoe on Webmaster radio. Here’s the show:

StumbleUpon Voted Most Popular by ProBlogger Readers

Darren Rowse aka ProBlogger recently held a reader poll to determine the most popular social bookmarking site among them. So, here are the results…

1st PlaceStumbleUpon

2nd PlaceDelicious

3rd PlaceDigg

(the rest don’t matter, 1,2 and 3 are what counts! come on people!)

So looks like StumbleUpon has been crowned king of social bookmarking by ProBlogger readers! I would definitely vote SU too. I just love the idea, even now. Just thinking about the core idea of SU, it is brilliant. Type of idea you wish you’d thought of.

Although I don’t use social bookmarking sites often or… lets say not as actively often and proper as I should, but the experience I’ve had with SU has far overwhelmed that of Digg or any others. I’ve no doubt a front page Digg article would yield incredible bummed server time and huge bounce traffic but… I’ve yet to have that privilege.

PayPerPlay = Pain in the Ass

This is a new ad company that has launched. Basically… audio ads. Already sound awful? not surprised!

I think this was launched with good intention to be innovative and clinch something that has not been fully exploited but… pay per play audio ads, just really terrible in my opinion. One reason for them being so terrible though is because they autoplay, probably could fiddle with the java to have them not autoplay but I just cannot see this working.

Anyway, just a very bad idea to me. I think the creators maybe thought

“This hasn’t been done yet! it’s going to be huge!”

When sometimes, you have to think to yourself… why hasn’t something been done. Maybe it’s not because somebody hasn’t thought of it but more toward the possibility of the idea being so bad that it’s been thought up… then thought down… then trashed!

Featured on Shoemoney and John Chow, in 2 Days!

A recent post I wrote titled Big Bloggers, Bad Grammar that of which mentioned Shoemoney and John Chow for having noticeably bad grammar at times, got mentioned by both of them!

Which I was really happy about. As you can imagine!

You always write about big bloggers and blogs but never really expect them to mention it or even see it. So many blogs out there, so really chuffed and surprised the post got mentioned on both blogs. Only other big blogger I mentioned not to have mentioned it on his blog is ProBlogger… Darren, care to make up the numbers :D ?

That’s all for now boys and girls!

Farewell Temporary Subscribers!

January 21st, 2008 IBabel 11 comments

I recently held a mini competition here giving away 3 free logos to 3 lucky readers.

I gave this competition a little boost with a John Cow review. That combined with quite a few backlinks resulted in about 70 entries.

People had to subscribe by email to enter so this took my subscribers from the 60 ish mark upto around the 130 mark.

This stayed steady until… guess when :) ? yep! after the contest ended. No surprises. As I said in a recent post – contest subscribers can be temporary as a large amount of the time they subscribe, check result and say bye bye!

With RSS this doesn’t happen so much assuming the content is good but with Email subscriptions, I would imagine a lot more people unsubscribe as it is quite annoying getting constant email updates.

Anyway, subscribers now down to 107 and I would imagine will continue to drop!

Farewell Temporary Subscribers…

Next time I’ll make people subscribe by RSS!

Internet Marketing Goals for 2008

January 2nd, 2008 IBabel 4 comments

Everyone is doing these cliche posts and I don’t normally like to follow suit but I think a goals or targets post is good to remind yourself of what you want to do.

So, my Internet marketing goals for 2008:

> Get Internet Babel to 500 readers or more in 6 months.

> Make a start on any projects still unattended.

> Finish all old sites.

> Broaden my content horizon for other sites.

> Make bigger and better sites with more content.

> Touch up on my web design skills.

That’s about it!

What are your goals for 08?

InternetBabel’s Subscriber Growth

December 27th, 2007 IBabel 8 comments

This blog is nearly 6months old! started on the 5th of July 07. Well, that’s how old the domain is, I actually started blogging on here in August.

Anyway, this is the subscriber growth chart for this blog’s subscribers:

Seems like a pretty healthy growth rate but still struggling on the subscriber front for this blog. And still plenty of room for more, the show must go on :)

New Theme

December 22nd, 2007 IBabel 4 comments

Usually I like to have a unique theme that someone else doesn’t have. Or at least edit a decent free theme to death… that’s an especially good way as it saves coding from scratch or paying a designer.

However, when I saw the John Cow ‘Milk It’ theme for sale at a very good $79 (personalized version) I had to get it.

I was happy with my old theme however it still needed a lot of work. But John Cow’s theme is a fantastic looking theme, I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better structured, more visually striking theme at the moment. There’s nothing bad about it!

Anyway, I’ll be editing away for a while to get it more suited to Internet Babel.

In the meantime share your thoughts on the new look guys :D
