I’ve tried for sometime to get my site listed in DMOZ. Hasn’t happened yet and I doubt it ever will. I’ll survive though!

My husband has submitted his site multiple times to DMoz and it has not been listed. He ranks very well and has an excellent PR without them.

There’s not that much of an importance in search engine rankings with DMOZ, I think the perception is that there is, but to my knowledge… meh… not that much.

It certainly ups your site value when you go to sell if you mention it because buyers automatically take a DMOZ listing as a sign of the site being well trusted and it also seems to make it more valuable in their mind. But to be honest I think it’s all overated. It brings no more traffic and does little for SEO in my experience… it’s pretty much pointless and just for the kudos of saying your in there!

I am divided over this issue. On one hand, I know there is a huge importance of DMOZ when it comes to search engine rankings and on the other hand, I don’t remember the last time I have seen a regular internet user using it for search.

The problem I think we are facing is DMOZ being non-profit. AOL needs to step up and lay down some type of rules and compensations for editors.

One of my competitors is an editor and he/she took out my listing after having one for five plus years…I am not going to worry about it anymore…
