Don’t Make Google Look Stupid
Posted on October 8th, 2007 by IBabel under Other Web TalkThis is a great video of Shoemoney going into detail about paid links and Google’s incentive.
I just felt like posting this video as he goes into nice detail and I wanted to just give my opinion on this. Even though my opinion probably isn’t worth spit
Anyway, I would agree with pretty much everything Shoemoney said. Messing with Google just isn’t smart. I mean, look at their resources and money, trying to outsmart them or rebel against them will ultimately only hurt you. John Chow was aware he wasn’t meant to be doing paid links, reviews and all that yet he still did it so all you can really say is he has himself to blame.
But, I do think it’s very unfair for Google to blast Chow out yet allow big companies to get away with it. It’s essentially favoring the richer for their own advantage and I would say by doing that to Chow they only made themselves look worse. By doing nothing, they would of just look complacent or maybe favorable of Chow given his web status. But the fact they kicked him out yet turn a blind eye to the really big guys just makes them seem unfair and manipulative.
But… at the end of the day. With all that said, despite what you think of them, or their flaws and what not. The basic lesson is… don’t mess with Google!

I just wrote an article about this as well on my site (search for google stuff it on the site) except I reached a different conclusion. I firmly believe there are many different ways to get your site seen and search engines is only one of them and google is only one search engine out of many.

Well, there really is nothing to firmly believe in what you just said. It’s a fact, not a possibility. Of course there are plenty of ways to get your site seen and I don’t get much of my traffic to any sites from Search engines to be honest. But still, why bother getting blacklisted by Google and detract a source of traffic. Also Google is only one out of many. But it’s pretty much the only one in a lot of people’s eyes, the average web user pretty much only uses Google.
