New AdSense SeverSide Ads are… Annoying!
Am I the only one who finds the new ServerSide Ads in Adsense annoying?
When I first heard of the idea I thought it was great. I thought it was just Google moving with the times as usual. A time saving mechanism for your experimental control… which is what I thought, until I actually used them!
You have to wait about 15minutes before a new unit is active now, sometimes longer. Which, isn’t the end of the world but the whole point of this new installment was to save time.
When you make a change on a unit it can take up to 10 minutes to take effect. I tested a change and I can honestly say; I could have just pasted the new changed code into my template and uploaded all my pages like I used to. Much quicker than using the new ServerSide ads. ServerSide ads are meant to save you time, but it’s seriously quicker to just change it yourself and upload. Takes a second to change and a minute to upload.
Now, you have to wait 10 minutes + for a new unit to be active and 10 minutes + for a change to take effect.
I know, it’s not like a major thing, like… who cares. But it just seems a bit pointless to develop an installment that is meant to save time but actually… doesn’t. Maybe it’s still early days as they are experimenting a lot of late. Hopefully it’ll get better.
Don’t worry. I hate it too.
