YouTube Partner Program
YouTube have now put into force a new partner program that allows you to “cash in on your creativity”.
If you sign up for this, YouTube will place ads in your videos and you make a cut of any ad revenue accumulated.
Mention of this idea was speculating for a while so I’m glad to see it in motion. I think it takes YouTube to a whole new level and brings, in effect; a social media / networking site into the advertising frontier.
I think this has been one of Google’s intentions from the start. To help YouTube join the Google family and make it into a money making machine
When I first heard about this I was really excited as I have a growing YouTube account with nearly 500 subscribers. And I only uploaded 17 videos to achieve that. With this new program I was enticed as this would definitely give me more motivation to not only upload more videos to that and my other growing accounts but also to try harder in making the videos better quality so they are seen more.
But after reading the requirements you need to become a partner, all of this went out the window as you need to live in the US or Canada to be eligable!
This is pretty annoying considering I… don’t. I’m from the UK. I know the majority of traffic to YouTube must be US/Canada but it’s YOUTUBE they have huge traffic from all countries. I can’t understand why they are only allowing Americans and Canadians in this program, must be a reason behind it. I just don’t know or can’t think what it is.
Hopefully they will start accepting UK applicants and other nationalities soon enough.
Anyway here is the full list of requirements you must meet to be eligable:
- You create original videos suitable for online streaming.
- You own the copyrights and distribution rights for all audio and video content that you upload — no exceptions.
- You regularly upload videos that are viewed by thousands of YouTube users.
- You live in the United States or Canada.
So, if you’re lucky enough to be living in US or Canada… sign up now and start earning!
